Does your to-do list seem overwhelming? Use the 4 Ds system to get a handle on it.

Do

The first option is to deal with the item immediately. Don’t let pressing matters get lumped with other tasks that are not as urgent. Knock out the item quickly so it can be crossed out on your to-do list.

Delegate

If you have agents with the skills and time to handle the task, have them follow up on the to-do item.

Defer

If it is not a task that needs immediate attention, set it aside for a later date or time. Schedule a reminder so the task does not get lost.

Delete

Not everything requires your attention. Tasks that are unimportant can be removed from your to-do list.

Try the 4 Ds to act on your to-do list and keep it—and your stress—under control.
